ILoveOV asked every Mayoral and Town Council candidate the same ten questions on growth, water, and Town finances. See who answered — and who didn’t — ahead of the July 21 primary.
This July, Oro Valley voters will pick a Mayor and three Town Council members. The issues on the table aren’t small ones. Growth and development pressure. Water supply, with CAP allocations and the Colorado River’s future both in question. Town finances, and how much Oro Valley leans on sales tax to keep the lights on.
ILoveOV asked the candidates directly. Every Mayoral and Council candidate received the same ten questions in their race, covering these three issues along with the decisions already shaping the town, like the Oro Valley Town Center rezoning and the building purchase funded out of General Fund reserves.
Two years ago, our last candidate Q&A became the most-read piece in ILoveOV’s history. Oro Valley wants to hear from the people asking for their vote, in their own words.
Not every candidate answered. You’ll find a note on that below, and we’ll update this page if more responses come in before the primary on July 21.
Want more candidate voices? Before this race took shape, ILoveOV sat down with sitting Council Members Elizabeth Robb and Mary Murphy. [Read that conversation hereRead that conversation here

Note on Missing Candidates
ILoveOV sent the same questionnaire to all seven candidates in these two races, Mayor and Council alike, with a deadline ahead of publication. We followed up once with candidates who hadn’t responded.
Melanie Barrett did not submit answers in the Mayoral race. Christopher DeSimone, Rhonda Pina, and Matt Wood did not submit answers in the Council race.
If any of them send responses after this goes live, we’ll add their answers and note the update here.
