Join the Oro Valley Historical Society to hear former CIA analyst Lee Krsiean speak about communication throughout our state in the 1800s. Communication across long distances using reflected light signals was probably used by pre-Columbian natives in Arizona. During the 1880s in Arizona, United States Army soldiers used high-quality, light-reflecting heliographs for communication and to provide security for early settlers. The presentation is complimentary, and donations to the Oro Valley Historical Society are gratefully accepted.
The Oro Valley Historical Society welcomes Dr. Michael Fassett, President of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation, to Oro Valley to discuss sculptures you have probably seen on your journeys around Tucson and Oro Valley. The Oro Valley Historical Society sponsors a lecture by Venetia Hobson Lewis, author of the award-winning novel “Changing Woman A Novel of the Camp Grant Massacre”. This novel weaves the stories of the actual perpetrators with fictional characters to recreate their actions taken in 1871, both in relation to the massacre and their private lives.
