Join Marti Conroy, Board Member of the Empire Ranch Foundation as she shares the history of the Empire Ranch in Sonita from the purchase by Walter Vail in 1876 to the present. How did a man from New Jersey decide to come to Arizona to purchase a ranch and then grow it from 160 acres to 1 million acres by the time of his death in 1906? Hear his fascinating story and learn about various discoveries that await you in the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.
Marti will also give us an update on the Cowboy Festival activities scheduled at the Ranch from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on November 1. You won’t want to miss the music, food trucks, trail rides and entertainment. Join us for a sneak preview!
Presentations sponsored by the Oro Valley Historical Society are free, and donations are gladly accepted to keep Oro Valley history alive!
