The historic Steam Pump Ranch in Oro Valley will be the starting point for this year’s Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation Spring Home Tour on Saturday, May 10.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Foundation has arranged a self-guided tour of historic ranches, dating from the 1800’s to the 1940’s that have never been featured on any of their annual tours. Attendees will see exceptional examples of Arizona ranches that helped shape the architectural and cultural identity of the Southwest on an unforgettable journey through Arizona’s past.
Steam Pump Ranch is located at 10901 North Oracle Road, and registrants will pick up a map, wristband, and shoe covers at the registration table in front of the Pusch House Museum on the Ranch anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
Docents from the Oro Valley Historical Society will be at the Ranch to provide information about the Ranch – the buildings, past residents, heritage gardens, historical aspects of the ranch, and why it is called Steam Pump Ranch!
On that day from 8 a.m. – noon, the Heirloom Farmers’ Market and the Makers’ Market will also be available to visitors to the Ranch. Home Tour signs will guide visitors to the check in point in front of the museum for the Historic Home Tour, and you will have the opportunity to shop for fresh foods and locally made crafts while at the Ranch before you start your journey to Oracle.
