The Ranch Comes Alive: Museum Finds, Plein Air Painters, and a Truck Raffle
There’s a LOT going on at the Ranch today – read on for all the activities!
First, the Oro Valley Historical Society invites you to visit the Pusch House Museum to see pieces from our collection you may not have seen before. As we modernize our archives through digitization, we are sharing pieces that are usually tucked safely in storage. Our exhibit rotation will pause, but the stories won’t. Our volunteers will be on site to answer questions and provide additional information. Self-guided tours of the Museum are complimentary, with donations gratefully accepted to help us keep Oro Valley history alive!
On the Ranch today, we will have the first-place prize of the Jim Click raffle – the Nissan Frontier Pro-4X Roush Edition vehicle. You’ll be able to see what you could win while supporting the Oro Valley Historical Society. All money raised goes directly back to the Society due to Jim Click’s generosity! Buy your tickets ($25.00 each or 5 for $100.00) from one of our volunteers. We appreciate your support.
Also, our naturalist will be back giving gentle one-hour tours of Steam Pump Ranch where you will learn about the people, plants, animals, and geology of our area. Tours start at 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Pusch House Museum and end at the Society-maintained Heritage Garden, where you can enter a replica of a Tohono O’odham pit house.
The Sonoran Plein Air Painters will be on site from 8 a.m. to noon, looking for the perfect vantage point from which to capture the incredible views of our community. You can interact with them as they paint their chosen location, whether it’s the Heritage Garden, the chicken coops, or the front patio of the Pusch House Museum. Art will bring Oro Valley history to life!
We also welcome back Gap Ministries as part of our Be Our Ranch Guest program, supporting local non-profits. Volunteers will be on site with their request for spices, condiments (ketchup, mayonnaise, etc.), peanut butter, jelly, syrup, canned goods (pasta sauce, vegetables, beans, meat), and boxed goods (rice, cereal, pancake mix). Your donation can make a difference.
