The Semiquincentennial is here! It’s time to celebrate the United States 250-year anniversary. The Oro Valley Historical Society will be celebrating in the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch in a three-part series beginning January 10. The first part will feature the beginnings of our nation, who was involved, what parts they played, what obstacles they encountered. Join us as we exhibit the start of our nation.
Also, on that day, we will welcome Treasures 4 Teachers as part of our “Be Our Ranch Guest” program – non-profits, helping non-profits. Teachers are in need of supplies as the second semester begins, and they are requesting rubber bands, packs of construction paper, pink erasers, glue (any kind), dry-erase markers, craft feathers, sandpaper, white-out, and pencil sharpeners. Help students and their teachers succeed by making a donation.
In addition, our naturalist will be back to guide two gentle one-hour tours of the Ranch and share information about the plants, animals, geography, and history of the people who lived at the Ranch up until 2007. The tours take place at 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and end at the Heritage Garden, maintained by the Oro Valley Historical Society, where you will see what winter crops have been planted and a replica of a Hohokam pit house.
