Oro Valley, AZ — March 21, 2026 — Bailey’s Beat the Bite will celebrate its 10th Annual 5K with a special nighttime glow walk on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Cañada del Oro Riverfront Park in Oro Valley. The family-friendly event supports individuals and families affected by Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a hereditary neuromuscular disease with no known cure.
For the past decade, Bailey’s Beat the Bite has brought the Southern Arizona community together to raise awareness and fund medical research dedicated to advancing treatments for CMT. This milestone year introduces a glowing twist, with participants lighting the path for a cure.
This year also marks Bailey’s Beat the Bite’s first event as an independent nonprofit organization, expanding its ability to directly serve and support the CMT community throughout Southern Arizona.
“Reaching our 10th year means so much to us,” said Kristen Oaxaca, President of Bailey’s Beat the Bite. “This event started because my niece, Bailey, has CMT and our family wanted to help her, but it has grown to be much more than that—it’s about building community, raising awareness, and showing other families affected by CMT that they are not alone.”
The glow walk welcomes participants of all ages and abilities and will feature live DJ entertainment, community sponsors, raffle prizes, and a vibrant illuminated walk experience along the scenic Riverfront Park path.
Community members are encouraged to register and be part of this special 10-year celebration. Registration is open at baileysbeatthebite.com.
Funds raised from the event support medical research focused on advancing treatments and improving the quality of life for individuals living with CMT.
This year’s event is made possible through the generous support of Global Construction Management, Audacity Graphic Design, and other valued community partners.
Media are invited to attend and capture the glowing nighttime walk experience.
