Tucson Bicycle Classic returns to Oro Valley on Feb. 23

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (Feb. 12, 2025) — The Town of Oro Valley is excited to welcome back the Tucson Bicycle Classic on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year’s event features a refreshed Oro Valley Circuit Race at Naranja Park (810 W. Naranja Drive), drawing more than 600 professional cyclists for a high-energy competition. With an anticipated economic impact exceeding $180,000, this race event will help drive significant tourism spending in local lodging, dining, and retail.

About the Race
The Oro Valley Circuit Race, presented by Rutledge Dental, features a new 2.8-mile course with a challenging uphill finish on Musette Drive in the heart of Naranja Park. This action-packed final stage will test riders’ endurance, with several prime locations for spectators to enjoy the race up close.

“Since the Oro Valley Circuit is the third and final day of racing, the competition will be fierce,” said Crystal Franke, Oro Valley’s Destination Marketing Manager. “It’s a great way for people of all ages to experience the excitement of professional cycling right here in our community.”

Traffic Restrictions & Delays
To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place near Naranja Park. Motorists should expect delays.

Please plan ahead — several roads will be fully or partially restricted on race day. Closures and diversions will start at 3 a.m. Traffic cones, signs, and OVPD officers will be positioned along the course route to direct traffic. The following traffic restrictions will be in effect on Sunday, Feb. 23, from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

Major Road Closures

  • Naranja Drive (between Monterra Vista Dr. and Musette Rd.) is closed in both directions.
    • Detours: Westbound traffic via Monterra Vista Dr.; eastbound traffic via Poinsettia Dr.
  • Musette Road (inside Naranja Park, from Naranja Dr. to Tangerine Rd.) is closed in all directions.
  • Monterra Vista Drive (between Tangerine Rd. and Naranja Dr.) southboundlanes are closed.
    • Detours: Northbound lanes remain open.

Spectator Parking & Park Access

  • No parking at Naranja Park, closed to vehicle traffic.
  • No street parking on Naranja Drive or Tangerine Road.
  • Alternative parking: Free spectator parking is available at:
    • Oro Valley Public Library (1305 W. Naranja Dr.)
    • Oro Valley Town Hall (11000 N. La Cañada Dr.)
  • Facility closures:
    • Naranja Park Archery Range & Trails are closed for the race.
    • Naranja Park Remote-Control Flying area is closed for the race.
  • Food trucks & vendors will be available inside Naranja Park.
  • Plan to walk or bike! The course is easily accessible via Oro Valley’s network of multi-use paths.

Best places to watch the action:

  • Start/Finish Line (inside Naranja Park on Musette Rd. near Tangerine Rd.) –See riders battle through the final sprint! Live announcers will provide race updates throughout the event.
  • Naranja Drive & Monterra Vista Drive – A high-speed descent into one of the race’s most technical turns occurs at this intersection at the southeast corner of Naranja Park.

Neighborhood Impacts

Naranja Drive

  • Pomegranate Drive will be closed at the Naranja Dr. entrance. Motorists may enter/exit the neighborhood to the south on Lambert Ln.
  • Guava Drive will be closed at the Naranja Dr. entrance. Motorists may enter/exit the neighborhood to the south on Lambert Ln.
    • Detours: Poinsettia Drive will serve as a detour for Naranja Dr. eastbound motorists. Detoured motorists will enter/exit the neighborhood to the south on Lambert Lane. Northbound traffic on Poinsettia Dr. will be able to make a left westbound turn onto Naranja Dr. to exit the neighborhood.

Tangerine Road

  • Copper Springs Trail (between Antelope Creek Trail and Tangerine Rd.) will be closed. Motorists may enter/exit the neighborhood to Tangerine Rd. (via Copper Creek Dr.). All other access points in and out of the neighborhood will remain open.
  • Sonatina Lane (between Musette Dr. and Cantata Dr.) will be closed. Motorists may enter/exit the neighborhood from Verismo Dr.

Monterra Vista Drive

  • Plateau Road will be closed at the Monterra Vista Dr. entrance. Motorists may enter/exit the neighborhood from Potosi Point Dr. or Ridge Peak Rd.
  • Sugar Loaf Road will be closed at the Monterra Vista Dr. entrance. Motorists may enter/exit the neighborhood from Ridge Peak Rd. or Azmataz Rd.
  • Teskow Drive will be closed at the Monterra Vista Dr. entrance. Motorists may enter/exit the neighborhood from Quandry Dr. or Flat Iron Dr.
