Terruño Returns to Tohono Chul With a Taste of the Sonoran Desert
Tohono Chul and the Tucson City of Gastronomy are bringing back Terruño: Flavors of the Desert on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. The annual tasting event celebrates the food, wine, and culinary traditions that define the Sonoran Desert, and it’s shaping up to be one of the season’s best excuses to spend an evening in the gardens.
Terruño brings together local chefs and Arizona winemakers for a one-of-a-kind tasting experience. Guests will sample innovative dishes built around autumnal, artisanal flavors, paired with regional wines, and they’ll get the rare chance to meet the chefs and winemakers behind them face to face. Live music from local performers fills out the evening, all set against Tohono Chul’s gardens as the sun goes down.
Who’s Cooking and Pouring
The chef lineup draws from some of the region’s best-known kitchens: David Marks of Tohono Chul Garden Bistro, Ryan Clark of Loews Ventana Canyon, Devon Sanner and Travis Peters of S + P Creative, Ramon Delgado of Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort & Spa, and John Martinez of Tito & Pep.
On the wine side, guests will find pours from Callaghan Vineyards, Deep Sky Vineyard, and Twisted Union Wine Company, all out of Elgin, along with Laramita Cellars and Pillsbury Wine Company from Willcox, and Sonoran Wines from Pearce. It’s a solid cross-section of what Arizona’s wine country has been producing, all in one place.
Tickets and Details
Terruño is a 21-and-older event. Early bird tickets run $125 per person through Monday, Sept. 14. After that, prices go up to $150 per person starting Tuesday, Sept. 15, so it pays to book early.
