The 11th Annual Salsa, Tequila, & Taco Challenge, presented by SAACA and El Conquistador, A Hilton Resort, promises to showcase culinary innovation and mixology mastery. This signature event offers attendees a diverse array of unique food and cocktail samples. Past editions have featured creative concoctions like chicharrón-infused salsa, dulce de leche dessert tacos, and a watermelon Sour Patch Kids margarita.
Over 700 attendees gather to celebrate and vote for the best salsa, tequila, and tacos crafted by renowned chefs and mixologists. The event seamlessly blends culinary artistry with live music, entertainment (including lucha libre wrestling and live artist painting), and local culture, establishing itself as one of Southern Arizona’s most vibrant summer food festivals.
Returning to El Conquistador, a Hilton Resort in Oro Valley, for the second consecutive year, the challenge will feature over 40 participants from Tucson and the Southwest’s most acclaimed restaurants. Competitors will vie for titles in the best salsa, tequila, taco, and grand reserve tasting categories, with winners determined by attendee votes and local celebrity judges.
Confirmed participants include various establishments, from local favorites like Amelia’s Mexican Kitchen and Dante’s Fire to unique vendors like Desert Forager and POPPED Artisan Popcorn. The event will also feature participants from high-end resorts and innovative concepts, ensuring various culinary experiences.
The event will showcase live entertainment, including dramatic lucha libre matches center-stage, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Live artist demonstrations will further emphasize SAACA’s mission of enriching local arts. Attendees can also participate in a raffle featuring thousands of dollars in prizes donated by community and event partners.
