Desert Drifter opened its Oro Valley location on April 24, 2026, bringing an independent, community-first coffee shop to The Blend shopping area near Lambert and La Canada. Founded by husband-and-wife team Eddy and Brenna Yunkherr, the brand grew out of more than 15 years in the coffee industry and a decision to walk away from the corporate side of the business to build something more personal.
The menu features espresso drinks, real-fruit smoothies, nitrogen-infused iced teas, and a lineup of signature "Sonoran Sips" coffees. Pastries and baked goods are made by local Tucson bakers. All told, expect a wide selection that goes well beyond a standard coffee drive-thru.
One standout is the Charity Coffee program. Each season, Desert Drifter partners with a local nonprofit to create a custom drink, and 100% of that drink's profits go directly to the organization. Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is among the current partners.
The Oro Valley shop is Desert Drifter's second location in the Tucson area, following its original Speedway Boulevard cafe that opened in October 2025. Additional locations on Broadway Boulevard and Grant Road are planned for 2026.
