Welcome Home, Donovan: A “Tail” of New Beginnings

Our family recently grew by four paws and 55 pounds of pure love! Through Paws Without Borders US, we met Donovan, a gentle giant who has already stolen our hearts. This young wolfhound mix, approximately 1-2 years old, came to us through the dedicated efforts of fosters Jennifer and Rio, who nurture several dogs in their caring home.

The First Days

Our first night with Donovan gave us a memorable introduction to his vocal talents! Missing his foster family, he treated us to what I can only describe as our own private performance of “The Hound of the Baskervilles”.  However, by day two, he had already begun settling in, choosing Michael, becoming his dedicated shadow.

Walking Donovan has been an adventure in itself. At 55 pounds, he’s quite different from our 17-pound rescue Chica! When he decides to pause during our walks, I’ve learned firsthand the true meaning of “immovable object.”

Despite our modest backyard with its BBQ area, pool, and putting green, Donovan has adapted wonderfully, content to lounge beside me during our outdoor time.

A Spa Day to Remember

Our recent visit to Pets Supplies Plus on N. La Canada turned into an unexpectedly wonderful experience. What could have been a stressful first grooming turned into a testament to professional pet care at its finest. The star of the show was Alyssa, our groomer extraordinaire, who transformed our big boy into the most huggable version of himself.

The entire team went above and beyond:

– Ryver, the Assistant Store Manager, provided expert guidance on nutrition and anxiety management, helping us select the perfect collar and harness combination.

– Mandy, the Store Manager, walked us through every step of their program, ensuring we felt supported throughout the process.

In over 40 years of pet parenthood, spanning numerous breeds and countless grooming appointments, this experience stands out as truly exceptional. The team’s dedication to both Donovan’s comfort and our peace of mind sets a new standard for pet care services.
