Wally Lawder’s musical path started with piano and trumpet during his Connecticut childhood and has evolved into a distinguished songwriting career in the Southwest. His music merges gentle lyricism with social commentary, drawing inspiration from artists like John Gorka, Patty Larkin, and Bruce Cockburn. With over 120 original compositions and six albums to his credit, Lawder has earned recognition for his introspective, poetic songwriting—including praise from Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Stephen Dunn. Whether performing solo or with his collaborators in The Stragglers or Acoustic Sky, Lawder delivers authentic, heartfelt performances that showcase his dedication to the songwriting craft.
