Oro Valley launches new tourism app to enhance visitor experience

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (Nov. 19, 2024) — The Town of Oro Valley is thrilled to announce the launch of Explore OV, a web-based app designed to make exploring Oro Valley simpler and more enjoyable than ever. The app empowers users to effortlessly discover, map out, and customize their Oro Valley experience.

This Explore OV launch is part of the Town’s tourism strategy to promote local venues, attractions, parks, outdoor recreation, and businesses. In February 2024, the Arizona Office of Tourism designated Oro Valley as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) known as Explore Oro Valley. The Explore OV app is among our first DMO initiatives, making it easier to discover what makes Oro Valley a memorable destination.

“Our tourism strategy is focused on creating memorable experiences that bring visitors back, year after year,” said Paul Melcher, Community and Economic Development Director for the Town of Oro Valley. “Explore OV is a cornerstone of that effort, showcasing the best of Oro Valley in a way that’s engaging, accessible, and supportive of our local economy.”

With easy access to Oro Valley’s attractions and things to do, dining, shopping, events, and themed public art tours — such as Desert Animals, People in Action, and Technology and Art — Explore OV is the ideal travel companion for visitors and residents alike.

• Personalized Itineraries: Create and save detailed itineraries based on your interests and schedule. By clicking the “+” button, users can add activities, restaurants, and accommodations to a customized “My Plan” section.
• Curated Public Art Tours: Oro Valley’s arts scene comes to life through themed tours like Desert Animals, People in Action, and Technology and Art.
• Real-Time Navigation: Access real-time directions and download maps and itineraries for offline use, ensuring you can explore Oro Valley without missing a beat.
• Share with Friends and Family: Planning a group outing? Share your travel plans easily via email, text, or social media, to invite others to join.
• Continuous Updates: Frequent updates add new itineraries, events, and recommendations to keep content fresh and engaging.
