Barnaby and the Butcher: Alt-Country & Americana
Tucson’s own Barnaby and the Butcher return to the Gaslight stage with their distinctive blend of Alt-Country and Americana. Their music seamlessly weaves together classic country, dark country, blues, and rock elements, creating a sound that feels both deeply nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary.
Since their last Gaslight performance, the band has evolved with an expanded lineup featuring a second guitarist (formerly their bassist), a new bass player, and special guest backup vocalist Robin Messing, performing exclusively for Gaslight audiences.
The past year has been remarkably productive for the group. They traveled to Mississippi to record their third studio album, “South of Memphis,” released this past January under the expert production of Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers). Their impressive performance schedule included opening for Irish rock band The Young Dubliners in both Tucson and Phoenix, sharing the stage with Los Lobos on New Year’s Eve at the Fox Tucson Theatre, and recording their fourth album during a special live event at downtown Tucson’s Poe’s Art House. This latest release, “Live at Poe’s,” became available in June.
