The Sky Island region’s grasslands provide critical habitat for migratory birds while supporting working cattle ranches. Since 2024, Sky Island Alliance has partnered with ranchers and land stewards to conduct winter bird monitoring, provide education on grassland habitat importance, and implement restoration projects that benefit threatened bird species while building more resilient, productive ranches.
