Friday, June 20, marks the Summer Solstice Sunrise Hike at Catalina State Park—a community favorite to greet the longest day of the year. It’s also an ideal reminder that early-morning hiking is the safest way to explore Oro Valley’s incredible trail network during the summer heat.

🥾 Top Early‑Morning Trails in Oro Valley
Linda Vista Trail
• Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
• Length: 2.2-mile loop
• Skill Level: Beginners
• Child-friendly: Yes
• Pet-friendly: Yes (on leash)
• Why it’s great: Short, scenic, and accessible. Enjoy sweeping views of Pusch Ridge and desert flora in bloom.
HoneyBee Canyon Loop
• Difficulty: Easy
• Length: 2.9 miles
• Skill Level: Beginners

• Pet-friendly: Yes (on leash)
• Why it’s great: Shaded canyon walls, desert washes, and Hohokam petroglyphs. Very walkable and relaxing.
Canyon Loop + Sutherland Trail Connector

• Child-friendly: Ages 10+ recommended

• Why it’s great: Starts easy, then connects to more rugged terrain. Great early-morning ridge views.
Pusch Ridge Trail #1 (Lower Section)

• Skill Level: Advanced hikers

• Pet-friendly: No (protected area)
• Why it’s great: Steep gain and rugged terrain. Popular for serious hikers; dogs prohibited to protect bighorn sheep.
