The annual fundraiser and food festival runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. \nMore than a dozen local and area restaurants will offer tastings\, with a wine-and-beer garden hosted by Laramita Cellars\, Omphalos Winery\, Dragoon Brewery\, and Moto Sonora Brewing Co. The OnesAll band returns with its mix of soul\, rock\, funk\, and dance. A silent auction featuring goods and services from Oro Valley merchants rounds out the evening\, along with a 50/50 cash raffle. \nGeneral admission is $40. Ages 7–12 are $20\, and children 6 and under get in free. Tickets and sponsorship information are available at tasteoforovalley.org. \nThis year’s proceeds benefit Edge High School\, StandUp for Kids\, and community services through the Oro Valley Rotary Foundation.

Visit the Pusch House Museum at Steam Pump Ranch to explore America’s Semiquincentennial and the Town of Oro Valley\, tracing the struggles of the patriots\, Arizona’s statehood efforts\, and Oro Valley’s beginnings. Volunteers will be present to share more information and provide additional information.\n\nIn addition\, our naturalist will be on-site\, leading two gentle one-hour guided walking tours around the Ranch\, sharing information about the geology\, plants\, geography\, animals\, and the people who call our community home.  Tours will culminate in the Heritage Garden\, where visitors will be able to see the plants currently in season\, along with a replica of a Tohono O’odham pit house.\n\nAnd while there\, you can participate in a fundraiser for our Heritage Garden.  We need equipment and seeds to keep the garden blooming.  Please see our website for needed items.

DESCRIPTION:The Oro Valley Historical Society continues its informative exhibit – America’s Semiquincentennial and Arizona Statehood in the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch.  How soon after the U.S. won its independence did Arizona become a state?  Our friendly volunteers will answer your questions and provide additional information.  Entrance to the Museum is free with donations gratefully accepted.\n\nIn addition\, our naturalist will take you on a gentle one-hour guided tour of the Ranch sharing information about the people and plants who occupied and still occupy this space.  The tour will end in the Society maintained Heritage Garden where you will see plants that have been a part of our diet for thousands of years.  Also on display is a replica of a Hohokam pit house so that you can see how Indigenous people lived in Oro Valley before we did.\n\nAnd\, we will welcome back Gap Ministries as they make their request for bathroom items\, including toilet bowl cleaner\, toilet brushes\, toilet bowl plunger\, and toilet paper\, along with air fresheners.  Help those in need with some things we need every day!

DESCRIPTION:At the Pusch House Museum on historic Steam Pump Ranch this past month\, the Oro Valley Historical Society has shared with visitors the journey it took for America to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its founding.  Starting today\, the Society will take a look at this semiquincentennial celebration in conjunction with Arizona’s statehood\, 114 years ago.  Self-guided tours of the Museum are free\, with donations gratefully accepted. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and provide additional information. \nIn addition\, Habitat for Humanity will be at the Pusch House Museum collecting new and gently used home items to help local families gain independence.  Don’t send these items to a landfill.  Instead\, bring them to Steam Pump Ranch to donate to the HabiStore to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity’s mission.  Items needed include – \n\nFurniture: sofas\, tables\, chairs\, cabinets\, and bedroom sets.\nAppliances: working refrigerators\, stoves\, washers\, and dryers.\nHome Improvement: Windows\, doors\, lighting fixtures\, and tools.\nBuilding Materials: Unused paint\, lumber\, flooring\, and hardware.\nHome Goods: Rugs\, art\, decor\, and patio furniture.\n\nIf you can’t bring an item\, contact HabiStore for a free pick-up \nMake space in your home while giving those in our community a new home! \nWe also welcome Gap Ministries back to Steam Pump Ranch with their request for donations of resealable plastic bags\, canned vegetables\, and dish soap for use in their kitchens.

SUMMARY:OV Historical Society - Semiquincentennial
DESCRIPTION:Today is the last day to visit the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch to view the America’s Semiquincentennial exhibit featuring the reasons and the events that led to the formation of the United States.  Tours are self-guided\, and volunteers will be on site to answer questions and provide additional information.  There is no charge for entrance to the Museum\, and donations are gratefully accepted. \nJoin our naturalist for a walk around the Ranch to learn more about the people who lived there as well as the flora and fauna of our desert surroundings.  Complimentary one-hour tours are scheduled at 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.\, and end at the Society-managed Heritage Garden\, where you can visit the replica of a Hohokam pit house. \nJohn Barthelme\, archaeologist and Heritage Garden volunteer\, will give a demo on stone tool making in the Heritage Garden between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. with obsidian for tool making\, goggles\, gloves\, and band-aids. Also on display will be plastic replica human and pre-human skulls\, as well as various African animal bones.
