DESCRIPTION:Tucson became the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in the United States\, and a new exhibition right here in Oro Valley shows why. \nGastronomy Tucson: Documenting Our Food Culture opens Wednesday\, September 30 at the Ventana Gallery on the Roche campus. The show brings together artists who have captured the Sonoran Desert’s food story\, from desert-adapted crops and the farmers who grow them to the recipes and traditions handed down through generations. Expect chiles\, heirloom produce\, canning jars and farm landscapes rendered in paint and photography. \nRoche Tissue Diagnostics and Art State Arizona are hosting the opening night reception\, and it’s open to the community. Admission is free\, with live music\, drinks\, and snacks. \nIt’s a rare chance to see the gallery inside one of Oro Valley’s biggest employers\, and a good excuse to spend an evening thinking about what ends up on your plate. \nRSVP
