SUMMARY:Artist Daniel Hoffbauer
DESCRIPTION:Dan Hoffbauer – Artist at Work \nMeet Dan Hoffbauer – Artist\, Historian\, and New Oro Valley Resident \nDan Hoffbauer’s artistic journey began at age five with stick figures and unfiltered imagination. Art runs in the family—his mother was a talented artist\, and his sister Julene is an acclaimed pastel painter. Largely self-taught\, Dan has always gravitated toward historical themes\, especially scenes from America’s past. Though he began painting with oils\, he eventually transitioned to acrylics—less mess\, no turpentine! \nFor more than 30 years\, Dan experienced what he calls an “artist’s block\,” unable to finish a single painting. The breakthrough came during a six-year chapter in Northwest Arkansas\, where long walks through the Civil War battlefields of Pea Ridge and Prairie Grove rekindled his creativity. \nBetween 2020 and 2023\, Dan completed 13 major works depicting Civil War battles in Arkansas and even illustrated a book cover. After relocating with his wife Jackie to Oro Valley in June 2024\, he quickly turned his artistic focus to Southern Arizona’s rich landscapes and history. He has already completed—or is currently working on—more than 10 new paintings inspired by the region. \nSteam Pump Ranch \n\nOriginally from Burbank\, California\, Dan is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California. He owned and operated a manufacturing business for over three decades before launching a successful second career in real estate in 2008. Today\, he’s a licensed agent with Tierra Antigua Realty here in Arizona. \nDan remains dedicated to refining his technique and exploring new subjects. He’s grateful to the Oro Valley Public Library for providing a platform to share his work—and welcomes your feedback as he plans his creative future in the Tucson area. \nDan and Jackie have been happily married for 41 years. To connect with Dan\, stop by the front desk for contact information\, call him directly at 479-717-7091\, or email dantherealestateman1@gmail.com.
