SUMMARY:The Oro Valley Historical Society is back!
DESCRIPTION:We haven’t actually been away\, but we have spent this summer working at the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch\, digitizing our collection of documents\, photos\, archives\, artifacts\, and more.   Come visit us and see our new look\, featuring items you have probably never seen or haven’t seen for a very long time.  Volunteers will be on site to answer questions and provide additional information. \nIn addition\, our hour-long gentle walking tours of the Ranch return\, led by our naturalist.  Tours will begin at the Pusch House Museum at 9:15 and 10:30 to learn about the plants\, people\, and geology of our area.  Tours will end in the Society-maintained Heritage Garden for a view of what is growing now and a visit to the replica of a Hohokam pit house. \nWe are delighted to welcome back Gap Ministries as part of our Be Our Ranch Guest Program. On this day\, they will be requesting your donations of new and gently used boys’ teen and pre-teen clothing (men’s and boy’s sizes).  In addition\, EverCare\, a senior placement service\, will be onsite to share information about housing opportunities for senior citizens. \nEnjoy the Heirloom Farmers’ Market and take a stroll to add some history to your Saturday.  We look forward to seeing you at the Ranch. \nhttps://www.ovhistory.org \nhttps://ovhistory.org/event/ovhs-hosts-clothing-drive-for-gap-ministries/ \nhttps://goevercare.com

SUMMARY:Oro Valley Historical Society-Program with Lee Krsiean
DESCRIPTION:Join the Oro Valley Historical Society to hear former CIA analyst Lee Krsiean speak about communication throughout our state in the 1800s. \nCommunication across long distances using reflected light signals was probably used by pre-Columbian natives in Arizona.  During the 1880s in Arizona\, United States Army soldiers used high-quality\, light-reflecting heliographs for communication and to provide security for early settlers. \nThe presentation is complimentary\, and donations to the Oro Valley Historical Society are gratefully accepted.

SUMMARY:Visit the Pusch House Museum
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch after you shop at the Heirloom Farmers’ Market.  See recently donated artifacts and some that have not been seen in many years.  Our volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and provide additional information.  Visits to the Museum are complimentary\, and donations are gratefully accepted. \nThis is the last year for the popular Jim Click Raffle\, and you could win a Nissan Frontier Pro-4X Roush.  Purchasing a ticket from one of the Society’s volunteers gets you that much closer!  Or maybe you would rather win two round-trip airline tickets or $5\,000. – your choice.  Volunteers will have tickets at the Ranch. \nAt 10 a.m. today\, the Oro Valley Rotary Club\, officials from the Town\, and members of the Oro Valley Historical Society will dedicate a Peace Pole\, donated by the Rotary Club earlier this year. Peace Poles are an iconic symbol of “May Peace Prevail On Earth International\,” founded in Japan over fifty years ago.  It is estimated that there are over 200\,000 Peace Poles worldwide\, planted on every continent over many decades.  The peace pole’s message of peace is written on four sides in English\, Mandarin\, Spanish\, and Tohono O’odham.
